Samsung Droid Charge Review: Locked or Unlocked Cell Phones

The Samsung Droid Charge is the first 4G capable cell phone from Samsung. It was just released last April 28 for Verizon which makes it the second 4G LTE capable phone under the said telecommunications company. It was released with a price tag of $299.99 plus a two-year contract under Verizon. It is pretty pricey but you can always purchase it from the large market of unlocked cell phones. Before you decide, let us look at the Samsung Droid Charge review.

The Samsung Droid Charge is reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S and is perfect for users who got used to its predecessor. It even inherited some of the specifications of the Galaxy S. These include the 1GHz Hummingbird processor, an Android 2.2 operating system, the famous AMOLED+ screen, and the 1.3MP camera with its interesting interface.

When it comes to design, the Samsung Droid Charge boasts sleek angles and curves that add to its futuristic feel. It has a slab design that is customary to touch screen cell phones but the bottom part of the phone is angled to a cusp which is also mimicked by the design of the camera casing. The curved back makes it easier to rest on your hand. It might be quite a handful at 5.11in tall and 2.66in wide but it is surprisingly light weighing only 5.04 ounces. This may be attributed to its plastic casing which may not be as appealing as its metal-enclosed competitors.

To continue on with the Samsung Droid Charge review, let us now look at its software and interface.

The Samsung Droid Charge has been bestowed with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, a 512MB RAM, an Android 2.2 OS (which can be upgraded to 2.3 later on), and TouchWiz interface. It is also capable of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and has an accelerometer and gyroscope to enhance gaming experience and application interaction. Both locked and unlocked cell phones can connect to any 4G mobile hotspot.

There are some issues of lagging reported for Samsung Droid Charge which may be due to its not-so-latest processor. It was able to provide a speedy performance but there are competitors that are definitely faster that the Droid Charge.

Conclusion for the Samsung Droid Charge Review: The Samsung Droid Charge may not be the most advanced phone but it can definitely deliver good quality phone calls and great multimedia experience.
